We’re Ned Kraft and Jon Nohai. That’s Jon on guitar (with the Beard) and I’m Ned, there on the drums.

We play the blues and teach as Jonny No.

Our goal – to help you become a better musician – in weeks and months, not decades.

Our business is the Jonny No Guitar Academy and we’re into helping keep live and local music alive.

We help beginners learn to play guitar quickly at

We help more experienced musicians get on stage (guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists).

Click and then click on the Blues Jam Class button.

We had great mentors and teachers and we want to pass that on.

Plus, we believe that having more musicians in the world will make life better for everyone.

Why are we qualified? We’ve taught dozens (or more) of people to be better musicians , have 50 years of experience, played big shows, blah blah blah. We’ll brag when we get some time to put together the ” about” page, but for now we’re just focusing on the learning materials.

If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, come meet us at the “Jonny No” Blues Jam at the Poor House Bistro in San Jose every month.

You can also join jams run by some of our alumni or just want to say hi, just drop us a note.

Ned and Jon

Have you ever said any of these things to yourself?

  • I played guitar, but that was a long time ago. I can’t do it any more.
  • I’m too old to start learning now.
  • I want to play, but I don’t know where to start.
  • When I started out, I wanted to play on stage but never did.
  • There are so many great musicians, I’ll just keep being a fan even though I’d rather learn to play too.
  • I don’t have the time to learn to play.

We have one thing to say about that…

  • You can learn if you’re old or young.
  • You can start again after 20 years off and get going fast.
  • You can get on stage and play with pros faster than you could ever imagine.
  • If you have 15 minutes per day to commit to learning, you can learn to play guitar, bass, harmonica or sing.
  • Being the best is over-rated. Being good-enough is what it’s really all about when you’re starting.

If you want to rekindle your dream of being a musician, we really believe that anyone can do it. And we are here to help.

You’ll get immediate access to Ned’s “Gigging Crash Course” which will help you be ready when you get on stage. You’ll also get occasional bonuses, product reviews and stuff that we think is fun.

If you need a new guitar, are a beginner wondering where to start or if you’ve been playing a while and want to step up your game, check out our teaching web site.

Or if you’re in the South Bay, visit Keith Holland Guitars. We’ve partnered with Keith to put together great beginning equipment and education packages.

And if you need a cool vintage amp or vintage electric guitar, check out King Amplification. Val has been critical in getting this kicked off.
